Welcome to the JAFM online scientific journal system

JAFM is an open access, peer-reviewed online journal with a scope that covers all aspects of theoretical, numerical and experimental fluid mechanics. The emphasis is on the applied rather than purely mathematical aspects of fluid mechanics.

JAFM offers a rapid and high quality peer-review process overseen by its distinguished international Editorial Board. The journal benefits from an efficient online submission process and online publication upon acceptance.

JAFM papers are freely available and the accepted papers are published free of cost.

For further assistance for submitting manuscripts, the JAFM secretary may be contacted by the following email address: secretary@jafmonline.net.

Title : Inertia Effects in Rheodynamic Lubrication of an Externally Pressurized Thrust Bearing Using Bingham Lubricant with Sinusoidal Injection
Pages : 609-616
Authors : I.J. Amalraj,  S Narasimman,  A Kandasamy,
Anstract : In the present theoretical investigation, the combined effects of fluid inertia forces and sinusoidal injection of the Bingham lubricant, on the performance of an externally pressurized thrust bearing with circular geometry are studied. Using the conventional two-constant Bingham model and by adopting the method of averaging inertia terms, the reduced Navier-Stokes equations are modified and numerical solutions have been obtained for the bearing performances such as the pressure distribution and the load carrying capacity for different values of Bingham number, Reynolds number, time and amplitude. The effects of fluid inertia forces and the non-Newtonian characteristics of the Bingham lubricant on the bearing performances for different sinusoidal conditions are discussed.

Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics

The Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics (JAFM) is an international, peer-reviewed journal which covers a wide range of theoretical, numerical and experimental aspects in fluid mechanics. The emphasis is on the applications in different engineering fields rather than on pure mathematical or physical aspects in fluid mechanics. Although many high quality journals pertaining to different aspects of fluid mechanics presently exist, research in the field is rapidly escalating.
